It has changed and improved a lot compared to the previous version, becoming lighter and more comfortable. Although Asics recommends it primarily for beginners, it can be ideal for experienced runners looking for a work horse. It’s comfortable, suitable for longer runs, durable, lightweight, and offers a lot for the price. It is currently available in 14 colorways, which also indicates that this shoe is aimed at a wide range of people.
Asics Gel-Pulse 15 Upper
The upper of the Asics Gel-Pulse 15 Running Shoe features a tightly woven mesh material that’s a little thicker than average. With slightly less breathability than average, you can keep your feet warm in this shoe on hot summer days or at the gym. The advantage of the thicker upper is that it is more durable and locks the foot better. The tongue of the shoe is padded, very comfortable. The tongue is not gusseted, but it does not slide to the side because the high cushioning allows you to pull the laces tight. The heel collar is also padded and very stiff. There’s also a gel layer in the heel, but it’s not the PureGel insert found in more expensive Asics running shoes, it’s thinner. The midsole has been made taller, but also lighter, as they’ve switched from the harder and heavier AmpliFoam foam to FlyteFoam. The midsole is wider than average in the forefoot and heel, which gives the running shoe extremely good stability. Although the Asics Gel-Pulse 15 is a neutral running shoe, the midsole (and upper) is almost as stable as a stable running shoe. The torsional flexibility of high stability running shoes is usually not good, but the Pulse 15 has a very good torsional flexibility, it is not tight. All in all, the Gel Pulse 15 has a completely new midsole, softer, more comfortable and with better shock absorption for longer distances.
