Running shoes for beginners
Many people ask me what running shoes do I recommend for beginner runners. I don’t like this question, but I have a good answer.
For one, it’s approached from the wrong direction. I can better answer what running shoes do I not recommend for beginner runners. On the other hand, while there are running shoes made specifically for beginners, most running shoes can be worn by beginners and advanced runners (there are exceptions).
Below you’ll find some of the running shoes we’ve already reviewed that are good for beginners, but if you’re interested in more, read the text below the shoes.

As I wrote above, there are running shoes specifically designed for beginners, but it’s not necessarily a good idea if that’s your main concern.
Don’t look for running shoes based on whether you are a beginner or not
It’s okay to be a beginner runner now, but if you’re serious about it, you’ll be an advanced one. Your first runs are the biggest influence on whether you stick with it. If you run at least 3 times a week for 3 months, you’ll find it hard to stop. That means 13 weeks and a minimum of 39 runs. If you do those 39 runs in an inadequately comfortable, fit running shoe, you may not stick it out. So don’t look for a running shoe based on whether you’re a beginner or not, but on all the other criteria you can filter for separately in the detailed running shoe finder.
Buy the most expensive running shoes possible!
When it comes to running shoes, it’s not always true that good is expensive or that cheaper is less capable. Even if you want to get away cheap, running shoes for beginners may not be cheaper. However, I highly don’t recommend choosing running shoes based on price. In fact! Buy the most expensive running shoes you can afford. Do you know why? Not because it’s probablyg better, that may not be true. Buy the most expensive one because it’s more difficult to give up. If you’ve already bought a good expensive pair of running shoes, you’ll last longer. If you’re serious about running, think about it
.
Don’t pay for unnecessary techniques
What I do know for sure, however, is which running shoes can do a lot of unnecessary things for a beginner runner. And most of them not only don’t know much unnecessarily, they may not be comfortable enough on slower runs, so they can quickly get you discouraged. You won’t feel comfortable in a lightweight, hard-soled running shoe designed for fast-paced runs on a slower run. In the list above, we’ve collected running shoes that don’t have techniques that are completely unnecessary or confusing for beginner runners.
Go to a specialist shop!
An experienced runner who’s worn several running shoes, even online, can choose which running shoes to buy based on reviews and features (although even an advanced runner sometimes makes mistakes). If you’re a beginner runner, it’s best to go to a shoe shop specialising in running shoes, where experts can help you. Not only will they be able to help you, but you’ll also be able to try on the shoes, which is very important until you have experience.
