The story of Adidas is well known, and a film about the two brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler has even been made. It's now a basic idea and doesn't seem like a mind-blowing one, but Adidas first thought of the fact that different sports needed different shoes.
By the time of the 28th Olympics, several athletes were wearing Dassler shoes, the Dassler running shoe won a gold medal in 1936, but the real breakthrough came with the 54th World Cup of Soccer.
We don't cover all their sports products just Adidas running shoes. Adidas has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to innovation (including, unfortunately, in '54), so it's worth paying attention to the innovations in Adidas running shoes.
A lot of sports brands have caught up with Adidas over the past 20-30 years and have been dethroned in the running shoe space.
Now, Adidas is refocusing on innovation, which in addition to enhancing athletic performance, including running performance, also means protecting the environment today.
The current motto of Adidas is that innovation is their solution to environmental pollution.
One of the innovations in Adidas running shoes is Ultraboost (foam capsules fused together), which has a much higher energy return, making Adidas running shoes more explosive and faster.
The other big innovation in Adidas running shoes is the Lightstrike Pro two-layer foam, which is lightweight, flexible and soft. This two-layer foam is combined with ENERGYRODS 2.0, a toe-tracking sheet that provides stiffness and even better energy return.
