Overall, the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 is one of the most popular Brooks running shoes for a reason. They are very comfortable, provide maximum stability and are a pleasure to run in. It’s not intrusively stable, but on a long run you can feel how good support it provides, as it’s much harder for the foot to get tired, and the aches and pains come much later.

Description

The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 is one of the most popular and well-rounded running shoes. GTS stands for go-to-stability, which indicates a stable running shoe. In addition to stability, Brooks also adds maximum comfort to the Adrenaline running shoe, whose name is a bit confusing because it’s characterized by calmness rather than adrenaline-generating excitement. The Adrenaline GTS 23 is a comfortable running shoe for slower and even longer runs that gets the job done without being noticed. Despite the large 12mm drop, it is a natural, soft and supportive running shoe. As before, there is a wide version of this shoe called the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 2E. The only downside to the shoe is its weight, whether it’s on-brand (Brooks Launch GTS) or off-brand (Hoka Arahi, Asics GT-2000, Saucony Guide) has an easier challenger.

Despite appearances, the upper of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 running shoe has good breathability. The upper’s main goal is maximum comfort, so it’s well-cushioned with a fixed heel collar and tongue. Good foot support is also for comfort and safety, which is helped by the cushioning and the elastic mesh material.

The midsole of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 running shoe is made of DNA Loft v2 foam developed by Brooks, which gives a soft comfortable feel and is correspondingly less dynamic with no high energy return. The drop of the shoe is notably large at 12mm, but here it’s more about giving the heel a heavier thickness for comfort and high shock absorption. The midsole uses Brooks’ proprietary GuideRails technology for stability, which is also easy on the knee. The GuideRails technology is all about supporting both sides of the shoe with a stiffer piece of foam on either side of the heel, allowing the shin to stay upright, which is easy on the knee and easy on the ankle. Brooks has designed this so that the two supports don’t feel intrusive, thanks to the softer foam between the harder foam pieces. The shoe remains moderately stable and tends to give more stability at the heel. The high drop, as described above, puts more strain on the knee, but the GuideRails technology alleviates the strain and improper movement of the knee. This is not to say that what the GuideRails technology gives, the high drop takes away, but that it allows both the ankle and the knee, and therefore the hip, to have a proper and large range of motion.

The outsole of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 23 running shoe is structured, not completely covering the midsole so it gives you more flexibility. Thanks to its pattern and the rubber compound used, it has a very good grip but does not wear out quickly. The deep grooves make it suitable for even light trails.
