Nike is the Greek goddess of victory, hence the name of the popular sports shoe manufacturer Nike.

Nike now makes shoes for almost every sport, from sports equipment to clothing, but it was running that created this brand (too). Founder Phil Knight simply wanted to make better running shoes for his student Bill Bowerman, and realised he needed a lighter-soled shoe to do it, so he started making shoes.

The recipe is still valid today. To make a good pair of running shoes (not just Nike running shoes), you need a lighter sole and a lighter upper. But that's not the only reason Nike running shoes are good. It took an endless amount of sportsmanship and determination (like most athletes).

There's a lot of research and testing behind Nike running shoes, which is why their best race running shoes cost so much.

But luckily Nike also understands that running isn't just about the elite sport, running is luckily a mass sport so they make cheap running shoes.

He tries to design and manufacture different running shoes for every level of ability, terrain, type of training and goal.
