Nike Vomero Plus running shoes
8.4/10 (Expert Score)The Nike Vomero Plus running shoes are highly cushioned and comfortable, and are best suited to longer, lower-intensity runs. Before the Nike silo system was created, this role was filled by the Invincible Run model, which, like the Vomero Plus, has a ZoomX foam midsole. The Nike Vomero Plus has a comfortable, highly cushioned upper with average breathability. The midsole provides excellent shock absorption, dynamism, and energyreturns, which is most evident in the fact that your feet tire less. This ability is more apparent over longer distances than at higher speeds. They are a good choice for beginner runners, although you can also start running with less advanced shoes. The Vomero 18 may be a better choice for heavier or overweight runners, but if you have a neutral foot strike, the Vomero Plus may also be suitable.
Description
Nike Vomero Plus upper
The Nike Vomero Plus running shoe upper is clearly designed with comfort in mind rather than performance. It is made of a soft mesh material with average breathability. It fits true to size, is average in width and has a spacious toe box. The tongue is thicker and more padded than average, but not overly so. Similarly, the heel collar is moderately padded and moderately stiffened. The midsole curves over the upper to provide a stable fit.
Nike Vomero Plus midsole
The Nike Vomero Plus running shoe midsole is made entirely of ZoomX foam, Nike’s most advanced midsole material. However, its softness and energy return are not quite on par with Nike’s racing running shoes, such as the Alphafly or Vaporfly. The midsole geometry is different: it is higher and wider, so it compresses in a completely different way. Consequently, its energy return is also different. The midsole’s energy return is less noticeable during fast runs and more noticeable during longer ones. Your feet tire less quickly, making longer runs less strenuous. You can run faster sections in them where the capabilities of the ZoomX clearly come to the fore. However, due to the shoe’s higher weight and wider midsole geometry, they are not ideal for running your fastest half marathon or marathon. Despite being 45 mm high at the heel, the midsole does not have high torsional rigidity or stiffness, but it provides the flexibility and bounce of ZoomX. Thanks to the high midsole, shock absorption is above average, which helps with longer runs. Many people don’t consider it, but stability is also important for longer runs as tired feet are less stable and perpendicular. The soft Vomero Plus ZoomX midsole solves this issue by being wider than average. It is only slightly wider than average at the front of the foot, but much wider than average at the heel.
Nike Vomero Plus outsole
The Nike Vomero Plus running shoe’s outsole covers almost the entire midsole. This improves traction and stability. If the outsole did not cover such a large area of the midsole and had larger transverse and longitudinal cut-outs, the shoe’s stability would be greatly reduced. The large surface area also improves grip, which is necessary because the outsole is made of harder-than-average rubber with poorer grip. This is compensated for by the large surface area and deep grooves. The outsole’s wear resistance, thickness and durability are all average.
Who are Nike Vomero Plus running shoes for and what kind of runs are they suitable for?

What is the difference between the Nike Vomero Plus and the Nike Vomero 18?
The Nike Vomero Plus running shoe is an enhanced version of the Vomero 18. In Nike’s new silo system, each base or icon model has a Plus version that is lighter and faster.
The upper of the Vomero Plus is lighter and thinner yet equally comfortable. Unlike the Vomero 18, the tongue of the Vomero Plus is not fixed. The Vomero 18 offers slightly better breathability and a wider upper, but the front of the upper is more tapered and pointed, whereas the Vomero Plus has a rounder shape.
The midsole of the Vomero Plus is made entirely of ZoomX foam, whereas the midsole of the Vomero 18 is mostly ReactX foam. This makes the Vomero Plus softer, lighter and more dynamic. Visually, the midsole of the Vomero Plus appears higher, but in fact, the Vomero 18’s midsole is 1 mm higher.
The outsole of the Vomero Plus covers almost the entire midsole to improve stability and traction. While the Vomero Plus is not more stable than the Vomero 18, it does offer slightly better traction. The Vomero 18 has a thicker outsole, but it wears out slightly faster, meaning their durability is similar.
