Description

The Nike Quest 5 running shoe is an inexpensive entry-level shoe that may be ideal for beginner runners. For its price, it offers a lot for the price, is comfortable, holds the foot well, has good traction, and even looks good. As well as running, it’s suitable for everyday wear or you can wear it to the gym.

The upper of the Nike Quest 5 running shoe is made from a breathable mesh material. The mesh material is complemented by several layers of reinforcement, and the lacing holes are reinforced with a separate layer, making the upper more durable. Wearable in summer and in the gym, your feet won’t overheat. The tongue of the shoe is medium-cushioned and fixed on both sides so it won’t slip sideways while running. The heel collar is not stiff, well cushioned, and in addition to keeping the foot in place, it’s comfortable.

The midfoot of the Nike Quest 5 running shoe is made of a soft foam. Unlike most running shoes this foam doesn’t have a specific name, it’s a simple EVA foam that Nike says is super soft, but the shoe itself is more like a hard one, next to the more advanced running shoes of today. That’s not a drawback, the Quest 5 is still comfortable, it’s just that it’s easier to fatigue your feet on longer distances. Shock absorption is high, thanks to the 26 mm thick midsole on average. For a beginner runner who doesn’t want to run more than 10 to 15 kilometres or break any speed records, this midsole is perfectly adequate. What makes the shoe feel comfortable despite the stiffer midsole is the 5 mm thick soft, spongy insole.

The outsole of the Nike Quest 5 running shoe is durable and grips well. Despite being made of a harder than average rubber outsole, it has good traction due to the fact that it is well ribbed and covers a large area of the midsole. Only one central groove is left uncovered, so that the outsole forms a kind of shin on both sides, which improves the stability of the shoe. The heel section has a separate articulated outsole, which is also thick, which helps runners coming in on heel (most beginner runners come in on heel)

Manufacturer description

Set new personal goals for yourself. Let the Nike Quest 5 help you achieve them. This neutral training shoe delivers a smooth, comfortable run with plenty of traction. We focused on the foam, adding more cushioning for a better transition from heel to toe.

Cool, light, fast

Mesh throughout the upper provides a lightweight, breathable feel. Based on runner feedback, we’ve placed the mesh in key zones to provide cooling where it counts.

Lace Up, Support Up

Feel the stability with the fitband at the midfoot. It works with your laces to keep your foot secure the tighter your laces are. The translucent material shows off the components at the midfoot.

Hard running with a soft feel

Super-soft foam through the midsole helps cushion your foot with every step. Increased height means a softer feel while running.

Long-lasting traction

The rubber outsole provides traction to keep your feet gripping the asphalt.

Additional Benefits

Super-soft cushioning and padding at the collar help keep your ankles comfortable.
Leather at the toes and lace openings add durability.
