The upper of the Nike Vomero 17 running shoe is made from a mesh material with plenty of cushioning on the inside. Most of the Vomero 16 midsole is made of Zoom Air foam, which was dropped from the midsole of the 17 version, replaced with ZoomX foam on top for comfort and softness, and Cushlon3.0 foam on the bottom for a stiffer, good shock absorption. The use of both foams makes the sole of the shoe comfortable and responsive at the same time, plus the harder bottom layer gives good stability. The midsole is suitable for faster runs, but also provides comfort for slower runs. Overall, the change in midsole structure from the previous version has resulted in a softer, more comfortable midsole that is not the most dynamic, but also helps with faster runs. The drop of the midsole is 10 mm, which is higher than average, encouraging you to land on your heels. For those who have run in shoes with a lower drop before, it may be a little unusual for the first few kilometres.

The Nike Vomero 17 outsole is completely changed from the previous version. In the 17, the outsole still covers almost the entire sole, but it is articulated, which doesn’t over-stiffen the sole of the shoe. The heavily grooved outsole gives the shoe great traction. In addition to good traction, the thickness of the outsole means it doesn’t wear out quickly.
