Description
The Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 running shoe is a versatile, stable running shoe for your everyday runs. It has a comfortable, breathable upper, a midsole made of a dual-density Nitrofoam to give Puma stability, and a thick, durable outsole with good traction. Although this is a stable shoe, it is not aggressively stable, so it will be comfortable and supportive for those with a neutral foot position. A good first running shoe for beginners and heavier runners. As it is very versatile, you can run fast and long distances too in it.
Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 upper
The upper of the Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 Running Shoe is made from a mesh material that has good breathability. The upper fits true to size and has a narrower than average design, so if you have a wide foot you may buy a size bigger. The tongue of the shoe is thin and wide at the top, it sits well on the instep. The tongue is gusseteds. The heel collar has a large padded strip that wraps around the heel. On the outside of the heel collar there is a solid plastic reinforcement, so the heel collar very stiff which is common in stable running shoes. This reinforcement is part of the RUNGUIDE SYSTEM, which provides the stability. The upper part of the heel collar has a nice knitted edge to make it easier to put the shoe on, also aided by the heel collar pull tab. Instead of the previous PWRTAPE solution, Puma has switched to PWRPRINT reinforcement, both of which are designed to add an extra layer of reinforcement to the upper for better foot support. The result is a very comfortable, well cushioned upper with great stability and foot support.
Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 midsole
The Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 running shoe midsole is made from two different hardnesses of nitrogen-injected EVA foam. This dual-density NITROFOAM provides the stability of the midsole. Inside, a softer foam is surrounded by a harder foam that acts as a frame, making the midsole more stable. This solution is very stable at low speeds, but also feels dynamic at higher speeds when the force of impact and kick is greater. It’s almost the same with more body weight. As part of the RUNGUIDE SYSTEM, this dual-density foam makes the midsole very versatile with good stability, suitable for both long distance and fast running. The midsole is also wider than average for stability. The midsole is high, 38mm at the heel and 28mm at the forefoot with a 10mm drop. This slightly higher-than-average drop relieves stress on the ankle and shin, shifting the focus to the knee and thigh muscles – a useful feature for pronating runners. Despite the high, wider-than-average midsole and stiffer frame, the midsole has good flexibility and low torsional rigidity, which is rare in stable running shoes.
Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 outsole
The outsole of the Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 running shoe is made from PUMAGRIP, a softer rubber compound. The outsole covers a large area of the midsole, is deeply grooved and softer than average for excellent traction. Good grip even on wet, dusty surfaces. Unfortunately, as well as providing good grip, the softer compounds tend to wear more quickly and the ForeverRun Nitro 2 is no exception, wearing a little faster than average. This is offset by the fact that the outsole is thicker than average, so durability is not bad. The design and shape of the outsole is also part of the RUNGUIDE SYSTEM. The outsole has a reinforcement on the medial side to give more support against the foot leaning inwards.
Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 vs Foreverrun Nitro, what has changed from the previous version
The Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 running shoe has undergone significant changes from its predecessor, resulting in a 20 gram increase in weight. We’re not too happy about this, but the positive changes make up for it.
The upper is still thin, but it’s made from a new mesh material and the PWRTAPE layers have disappeared, replaced by the softer but equally effective PWRPRINT. The external plastic reinforcement of the heel collar has been reinforced, the eyelets have been redesigned and the tongue has been softened to provide a more comfortable and secure fit.
The midsole has been raised by 2mm, making the shoe even more comfortable, dynamic and versatile.
The outsole grooves have been modified to improve grip and prevent small stones from getting stuck in the shoe.
