Description
The Saucony Guide 17 Running Shoe is a stable, well-cushioned, versatile, lightweight running shoe, best suited for everyday running. The new version of the Guide has undergone many changes, with a completely different geometry and a new way of achieving stability. There are no unnecessary stiffeners, making it much softer and more comfortable than previous versions. The name of the new technology Saucony has developed is CenterPath, which has 3 main elements: wider midsole, higher sidewalls, asymmetrical outsole design.
The upper of the Saucony Guide 17 running shoe is made from a double layer of mesh material, which has good breathability and is more flexible than average. The tongue of the shoe is fixed and heavily cushioned, which adds to the sense of comfort. The heel collar is also padded and rigid, which keeps the foot secure. The upper is wide, but thanks to the extra lacing holes, it also holds a narrower foot well. The midfoot is folded over the upper, which is part of the CenterPath technology and enhances the stability of the shoe.
The midfoot of the Saucony Guide 17 running shoe is made of PWRRUN foam, like the previous version, but that’s the only similarity between the two shoe’s midfoots. The Guide 17’s midsole no longer has Hollow-Tech stiffening so it’s much softer and more comfortable. The drop is lower and the geometry has changed. The midsole is wider and asymmetrical, giving the shoe a high degree of stability. The new midfoot design makes the Guide 17 more versatile and suitable for longer runs. The lighter and more flexible midsole makes the shoe suitable for intervals or shorter faster runs. The higher midfoot also provides better shock absorption, which is also good for longer runs.
The outsole of the Saucony Guide 17 running shoe is articulated and only covers the midfoot at the more sensitive points where the shoe is exposed to higher usage. This solution has reduced the weight of the shoe, but hasn’t reduced the grip. Because the midsole is wide, the grip can remain good even with a smaller percentage of the outsole covered by the rubber layer. The outsole has proven to be durable with good grip and minimal wear even after 100 km of running
