Description
It’s not much better looking, but it has changed a lot and improved the Brooks Glycerin 21 running shoe. The character remains the same, a running shoe with a very comfortable upper and maximum cushioning for long everyday or mileage runs. It is not very dynamic, but it is not designed for fast runs. The new version, the Glycerin 21, has been lightened by 23 grams, while the midsole has been raised by 2 mm. The shoe could be a good choice for runners with a high body weight, and the good news is that although the standard version has good stability, there is also a stable version of the Brooks Glycerin GTS 21 running shoe.
The upper of the Brooks Glycerin 21 running shoe is made from a knitted, mesh material, it stretches well, hugs the foot well… The upper is definitely a representation of maximum, luxurious comfort. All parts are well padded, soft and comfortable. The downside of the high cushioning is that it makes the upper quite warm and not very breathable. The tongue of the shoe is chunky and highly cushioned. The laces are a bit stretchy and thick, but light. The heel collar and is thickly padded, which is very comfortable. The Glycerin 21 is available in two widths, those with wide feet will feel more comfortable in the wide version.
The midfoot of the Brooks Glycerin 21 running shoe is made from DNA Loft v3 foam, a nitrogen-enriched EVA foam. Several Brooks shoes use the same foam, but not in the same quantity and geometry. The Glycerin 21 has a lot of cushioning, but it’s not too soft, but it’s not hard either, which is why it will be suitable for longer runs. It has very good cushioning, but it’s not a shoe that’s so soft that the foot will sink into it. Not soft, but comfortable. Although there is a stable version of the shoe (Brooks Glycerin GTS 21) the midfoot geometry gives great stability. Just like the Asics GT-2000 12 running shoe, the midsole hugs and supports the foot. The midfoot geometry is good, the rollover is comfortable and not focused on speed.
While the outsole of the Brooks Glycerin 21 running shoe doesn’t fully cover the midsole, it does provide ample coverage, and the outsole thickness is also thicker than average. The new RoadTack outsole contains recycled silica, which makes it more durable. In addition to good abrasion resistance, the thick outsole further increases the stability of the shoe. The outsole has a very good grip, even on wet surfaces or on lighter terrain, you won’t feel any major slippage

While the Brooks Glycerin 21 is also a pretty stable running shoe, there is a stable version of it called the Brooks Glycerin GTS 21 running shoe. GTS stands for Go To Support, which refers to stability. Stability is provided by GuideRails technology, which attempts to keep the ankle, foot and knee in a neutral position. Brooks achieves this by reinforcing the two sides of the shoe’s midsole at the heel like a rail to prevent the foot from wobbling. This reduces excessive shin and heel rotation to keep natural knee movement safe. Because GuideRails technology only intervenes when the foot would twist in either direction, it can be used by runners with a neutral foot position.
