Adidas 4DFWD 3 running shoes
7.4/10 (Expert Score)The Adidas 4DFWD 3 shoe overall is an interesting, innovative initiative. It’s comfortable, soft, flexible, has good traction and is durable too. Suitable for shorter and slower everyday runs if you don’t have pronals or supinals. Looks good so a good choice for everyday use if you want comfort too. It can also be a good choice for those who go to the gym and have shorter runs, although in this case you should be prepared for the shoe to be a little warm, with less breathability.
Description
The Adidas 4DFWD 3 shoe can hardly be called a running shoe. It has some exciting features, it’s innovative, it’s fashionable, it looks good and it can be used for running, but it’s more of a training shoe or an everyday sneaker. It can be a good choice if you are a beginner runner and don’t run long distances or fast. They can also be a good choice if you do other exercise besides running, you also go to the gym to work out. If you also like to run, the Adidas 4DFWD 3 is worth reading on to find out the features of the shoe. If you are familiar with the first two versions, you only need to read the section on the upper, as the outsole and midsole have not changed for the 3rd version. Good news is that the Adidas 4DFWD 3 sneaker is 8 grams lighter than the previous version, but still heavier than the first version.
Adidas 4DFWD 3 upper
The upper of the Adidas 4DFWD 3 sneaker is more comfortable and better than the previous two versions, even though they were comfortable. The upper is made of a double mesh material, which is comfortable and looks good, but the breathability is not good, weaker than average. The front of the shoe may not be comfortable for runners and athletes with wider feet, as it has a narrower than average design. Previously the tongue was one with the upper, now it is separated and the tongue is attached to an inner sock-like layer, which makes the upper two-layered and therefore not as breathable. However, because of this double layer design, the upper is much more durable. As in the previous versions, the heel collar is high, but that’s just for show. The height of the heel collar is actually not high, it is in two parts. The upper part, which makes it look tall, is a paper thin fabric part, a pull tab that can help you pick up the shoe, but has no other function, it can even be folded down. The lower part of the heel is stiffer and padded, as with most running shoes. For most athletes, the change in heel collar is a positive step, less distracting this way. In addition, the cushioned lower part of the heel collar is as durable as the front of the shoe, wearing out slowly. Another very positive change is the change to the lacing holes. In the previous version, the top hole was a plastic loop that was sometimes annoying, pushing the ribbing, but this has been replaced with a traditional loop.
Adidas 4DFWD 3 midfoot
The Adidas 4DFWD 3 midfoot shoe hasn’t changed much from previous versions, but maybe because it’s good, the question is what kind of running or other sport is it good for? The midfoot is very unique, innovative and exciting, so it’s worth writing about. During the development of the midfoot, millions of grid models were tested using computers to select the best of them. The lattice structure of the midfoot is 3D printed to ensure accuracy. 3D printing itself is innovative, but it’s a forward-looking technology that wants to get to the point where, once they’ve measured the geometry of your foot, they can print a unique midsole for everyone. This solution is still a concept, but it requires small steps to implement, one of which is the 4DFWD midsole. The midsole’s lattice structure is designed to quickly and smoothly swing the foot over the heel after landing on a heel, adding the necessary amount of power to kick off. THE idea may be good for those who strike the ground with their heels, but some runners, more advanced runners, do not land on their heels, but on the middle of their feet or toes. It’s a running technique, so we won’t write about it in depth, but the less time you spend on the ground while running, the more efficient (faster, less tiring) your run will be. Therefore, the closer your impact point is to your take-off point, the more efficient your run. But this is not the only theoretical problem with 4DFWD technology. The midfoot is heavy and does not support either fast or long runs. There are also many good features of the 4DFWD midfoot. It is very comfortable, has good shock absorption, is very flexible, has good torsional (lateral) flexibility, rolls over smoothly, like you are gliding. The 4DFWD midsole is soft and it’s a matter of judgement whether that’s good or bad. Softness in most cases gives less dynamism, less power return, but is more comfortable. A thinner design, or combined with a carbon plate could make the shoe more dynamic. Another problem with softness could be that it does not give enough stability. Unfortunately, the stability of the Adidas 4DFWD 3 shoe is not high either, so anyone who is pronating with an irregular foot posture should not choose this shoe because it could lead to injury in the long run. All in all, the midfoot, although very comfortable, is only suitable for shorter and slower runs, but it can be perfect for a warm-up run of a few kilometres in the gym.
Adidas 4DFWD 3 Outsole
The Adidas 4DFWD 3 Outsole performs very well. It covers the entire midfoot, which helps with traction, but despite not having any articulation it doesn’t stiffen the midfoot, which is good news for those looking for a flexible running shoe. In addition to the traction, the wear resistance of the shoe is also excellent so it’s durable and will last a long time. The rubber compound of the outsole of the Adidas 4DFWD 3 shoe was developed by Continental, not too soft and not too hard, it is positioned right in the middle, which results in both secure traction and good wear resistance. The outsole is thicker than on running shoes, which also adds to its durability.
Summary
The Adidas 4DFWD 3 shoe overall is an interesting, innovative initiative.
