Over all, the Hoka Arahi 7 running shoe remains a great versatile, stable running shoe for everyday running. For a stable running shoe, it’s not too heavy, has good breathability, good shock absorption and good foot support (those with wide feet may not be comfortable). Not too many things have been changed, or things that were already good have been changed. I hope the outsole is more durable, haven’t had time to test that yet. As for the price, all we know for now is that it will be $5 more expensive than the Arahi 6, expected to be around 50-60 eFt. I am sorry that the Arahi 7 did not get a new base. Hoka running shoes have a number of exciting, dynamic mid-soles, it would be nice to see a stable Hoka that is a bit more nimble and faster, because Hoka’s other stable running shoe the Gaviota 5 is not.

Description

The Hoka Arahi 7 Running Shoe is a versatile, stable, medium-cushioned, everyday running shoe with good shock absorption for longer marathon distances. Not much has changed from the previous version, the Arahi 6. The outsole is the same, the upper has been updated and the weight has increased slightly, but it’s still a great stable running shoe.

The upper on the Hoka Arahi 7 running shoe has been completely redesigned from the previous version, although I don’t think there was anything wrong with the upper on the Arahi 6. The new upper is a knitted fabric, seamless upper. The breathability is good, but a bit worse than the previous version. The position of the eyelets has been changed to improve the foot support of the shoe. The tongue of the shoe is still fixed on both sides, it is more cushioned and has a slightly new structure, with a separate cushion where the laces can pinch the foot more. The heel collar is stiff to keep the ankle stable, but well padded, making it very comfortable.

Hoka J-frame technology

Hoka J-frame technology

According to Hoka, the midsole of the Hoka Arahi 7 running shoe hasn’t changed at all, and it’s obvious from the outside, but that’s okay, because it’s a very good midsole construction so far. The midsole consists of two CMEVA foams of different densities and hardnesses. From the front of the inner arch of the sole to the middle of the outer arch and the J-shaped, harder foam material, this is the J-Frame and it makes the Arahi 7 stable. The rest of the midsole is also softer for comfort. The J-Frame technology prevents the ankle from leaning inwards while running, making this running shoe perfect for pronating runners. The tougher J-Frame foam is also more durable, so despite being constantly subjected to more stress (due to pronating feet), it won’t collapse, holding the foot in place well after hundreds of miles.

Overall, the midsole tends to be stiffer and stiffer to make the shoe even more stable. It has good shock absorption, but not much dynamism, so it’s more suited to slower runs.

Unfortunately, the outsole of the Hoka Arahi 7 running shoe hasn’t changed much from the previous version. It has the same pattern and the same thickness. Hoka claims to have improved the durability of the midsole, which I’m very happy about because the previous versions wore out completely after 600 km. The outsole grip is average, I only experienced slippage on wet surfaces.

Overall, the Hoka Arahi 7 running shoe remains a great versatile, stable running shoe for everyday running. For a stable running shoe, it’s not too heavy, has good breathability, good shock absorption and good foot support (those with wide feet may not find it comfortable). Not too many things have been changed, or things that were already good have been changed. I hope the outsole is more durable, haven’t had time to test that yet. Manufacturer description

Surprisingly stylish stability shoe.
The new Arahi 7 isn’t your average stability shoe, but with our patented J-Frame™ technology, it delivers the same streamlined support as its predecessor. Updated with a zoned, flat-knit upper for improved midfoot lockdown, the fit has been fine-tuned with a tongue and elastic dual foil under the lace line to help reduce tongue wander.
The Arahi 7 is designed to provide protective cushioning while keeping toes responsive for when you want to go faster.
The Arahi 7 incorporates our J-Frame(TM) technology, designed to prevent excessive rolling inward or overpronation without over-correcting your gait.
What’s new
Based on the same supportive J-Frame™ frame as the last iteration, but we’ve added a breathable, flat-knit upper, a wider tongue and dual laces.
