The Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 Running Shoe is a highly cushioned, comfortable running shoe that is best suited for lower-intensity runs, even longer ones. It has a high and soft midsole, a well cushioned upper with good breathability, a grippy outsole and good abrasion resistance. Compared to the previous version, the Asics Gel-Nimbus 26 running shoe, it’s changed a lot. The upper is made of mesh material for better foot support, the previous version was made of stretchy knit material. The midsole is 2mm higher and although it is nominally made of the same FlyteFoam Blast+ Eco foam, Asics engineers have reworked this foam to make it softer and lighter. The outsole is still made with the same Hybrid ASICSGRIP technology, which means they use two different rubber compounds, but they’ve changed the pattern of the outsole to improve grip.

Description

The Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 Running Shoe is a highly cushioned running shoe with a very comfortable upper. It is primarily designed for lower intensity and even longer runs. If you want to pamper your feet, give them a little rest, or if you want to run longer than you do, the Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 will help you do just that. It’s changed a lot from the previous version, with a higher, softer midsole, a new upper material that’s been replaced with mesh instead of the previous stretchy knit, and a completely different outsole layout and pattern. Despite the higher midsole, the weight of the shoe has not changed, still weighing in at 305 grams, which is considered a heavier weight for its category and for all running shoe categories.

Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 upper

Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 running shoe upper The upper of the Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 Running Shoe is made of mesh material that has good breathability. The previous stretchy knit upper has been replaced to improve the foot lock of the upper. The upper of the Nimbus 27 is clearly designed for comfort and not performance, so it is very cushioned. The only exception to the cushioning is the tongue, which is made of stretchy knit material and fixed on both sides. The heel collar is moderately stiff and highly cushioned. The Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 running shoe also features the Easy Access Solution, which makes it easier to put on the shoe quickly. This means that both the tongue and heel collar have a rubber pull tab, and a thin stretch knit runs around the edge of the heel collar to make putting the shoe on easier and faster.

Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 midsole

Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 Running Shoe Midsole The Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 Running Shoe Midsole is also primarily designed for comfort, but you can also run a faster mileage or a moderately long run in it. The foam material of the midsole is the same as the previous version, FlyteFoam Blast Plus Eco, but the foam composition has changed slightly. Asics engineers changed the composition of the foam, making it softer and more comfortable than the previous FF Blast+ Eco foam. The height of the midsole has also changed, with a 2mm increase (43.5mm at the heel and 3.5mm at the forefoot), but thanks to the new components, there is no weight gain. The midsole is still wider than average, so although the Nimbus is a neutral shoe, it has good stability, which is important for longer runs. It’s also worth looking at the midsole from underneath; the groove that runs down the length of the shoe improves stability, but also changes the torsional stiffness, making the shoe more flexible. Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 Running Shoes PureGel InsertAs the name of the shoe suggests, the Gel-Nimbus 27 also features a PureGel insert in the midsole. This insert improves the shock absorption of the shoe at the heel. PureGel is a layer of hexagonal gel that makes the shoe more comfortable and improves shock absorption.

Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 Outsole

Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 Running Shoe Outsole The Asics Gel-Nimbus 27 Running Shoe Outsole is made of two different rubber compounds, the hybrid ASICSGRIP solution. The front and rear red sections, where the outsole is exposed to more wear, are made of a harder compound, AHAR+ rubber, which has better abrasion resistance. The middle light blue section is made of a softer compound, ASICSGRIP, which has better grip. This solution allows the outsole of the shoe to have both good traction and high abrasion resistance. As I mentioned with the midsole, the articulation of the outsole is primarily designed to maintain the flexibility of the shoe and reduce weight.

For whom and why, and for which runs is the Asics-Nimbus 27 recommended? How does it differ from the previous version? Summary
