Saucony Kinvara 16 running shoes
8.6/10 (Expert Score)The Saucony Kinvara 16 running shoes are lightweight, flexible, fast neutral running shoes without a carbon plate. They are designed primarily for fast runs of no more than half marathon distance. With a low midsole, the shoe provides an excellent ground feel and is responsive, with a midsole that is moderately soft to moderately hard. The low, not overly soft midsole offers good stability compared to other neutral running shoes. They can also be a good choice for beginner runners as they are lightweight and comfortable. Even for beginners, the maximum distance that can be run in these shoes is more than enough for a half marathon. A wider version is also available, which may be suitable for heavier runners or those who are obese for runs of up to 10 km.
Description
Saucony Kinvara 16 upper
The Saucony Kinvara 16 running shoe upper is made of lightweight double mesh fabric. The outer layer is reinforced with densely woven mesh, while the inner layer features large ventilation holes. This design provides good foot support and breathability. It is true to size and has a narrow fit, but a wider version of the shoe is also available. The wide, moderately thick and padded tongue is fixed. The last two eyelets on each side are attached to a cord that runs along the inside and outside of the shoe, giving the shoe even better foot support. The padded heel collar has a stiff lower part and a softer upper part that does not irritate the Achilles tendon.
Saucony Kinvara 16 midsole
The Saucony Kinvara 16 running shoe midsole is made entirely of PWRRUN foam, which has undergone slight modifications compared to the previous version. This new foam is more dynamic and slightly firmer. The midsole of the Kinvara 16 is low and direct with good ground feel. Fortunately, unlike most running shoes, the height of the midsole has not increased compared to the previous version. The low midsole is the main reason for the shoe’s low weight, and has additional advantages besides this. It is fast and responsive, and provides good stability. Unlike most stable running shoes, the Saucony Kinvara 16 is flexible and has low torsional rigidity. Good stability and flexibility are rarely found together in the same shoe. The only potential disadvantage of the low midsole is that it does not provide high shock absorption, making it unsuitable for runs longer than a half marathon.
Saucony Kinvara 16 outsole
The Saucony Kinvara 16 running shoe outsole consists of just two thin layers of rubber in the areas of the sole that experience the most wear during running: the outside of the heel and the inside of the forefoot. While it is possible that you may wear down the outsoles of your running shoes in other areas, for most runners, these are the areas that wear down the most. It is almost certain that you will wear down the soles of your Saucony Kinvara 16s in other areas as well. Why hasn’t Saucony changed this design feature in several versions? Because then the Kinvara would lose its unique running experience. Having only these two small rubber layers reduces the shoe’s weight and stiffness. Without a continuous rubber outsole, the midsole remains much more flexible and the shoe is much less rigid and stiff. Anyone who has run in Kinvaras knows that this is one of the most noticeable differences compared to other running shoes.
Who are Saucony Kinvara 16 running shoes for, and what kind of running are they suitable for?

How has the Saucony Kinvara 16 running shoe changed compared to the previous version?
The Saucony Kinvara 16 running shoe has undergone many changes compared to the Saucony Kinvara 15. The most significant of these is not visible, but can be felt: the PWRRUN midsole foam has been redesigned. This new foam is slightly harder, yet more responsive.
The outsole has also been redesigned, though not significantly.
The upper has been completely redesigned and is made of a new double-layer mesh material that is just as breathable as before. The heel collar’s shape has changed; it was previously slightly curved inward, but now the upper part curves outward to avoid irritating the Achilles tendon.
Although the Kinvara 16 is 6 grams heavier than the Kinvara 15, this is not noticeable, and the new, more dynamic midsole compensates for this.
