The Adidas Supernova Prima Running Shoe is a comfortable, well cushioned neutral running shoe that Adidas designed primarily for longer, slower runs. It has good stability, a very comfortable upper, and a soft but not overly cushioned midsole. It is versatile and performs well on shorter, faster runs, but it is not designed for long, fast runs. If you’re looking for a comfortable, versatile running shoe with good stability, the Adidas Supernova Prima might be a good choice. It has limited breathability so is not the best choice for warmer days. If you’re strike at heels, be prepared for the outsole to wear out a little faster than average.

Adidas Supernova Prima Running Shoe

Description

The Adidas Supernova Prima Running Shoe is the premium, highly cushioned comfort shoe in the new Supernova line, with good stability to support longer runs in maximum comfort. Although it has the most Dreamstrike+ foam of the 4 Supernova running shoes and the highest midsole, it isn’t too soft , which works to its advantage. This is a versatile shoe that will allow you to run at different paces and distances.

Adidas Supernova Prima upper

Adidas Supernova Prima running shoe upperThe upper of the Adidas Supernova Prima running shoe is made of mesh, which is a weak point when it comes to breathability. It’s comfortable and locks the foot well, but the breathability is average or slightly below average, like the other new Supernova shoes. The upper is true to size and can be comfortable for runners with wide feet, while those with narrower feet will need to tighten the laces more or use the last lacing hole. The tongue of the shoe is fixed and thin, but there are pads to protect you from getting caught in the laces. The heel collar is stiff but well padded to keep the foot comfortable and secure.

Adidas Supernova Prima midsole

Adidas Supernova Prima Running Shoe MidsoleThe Adidas Supernova Prima Running Shoe Midsole is made of two different foams. The top layer is Adidas’ new lightweight, soft Dreamstrike+ foam. In the Supernova Series, the Prime has the most Dreamstrike+ foam and the Prima has the highest midsole with a thickness of 38mm at the heel.
Compared to the other Supernova running shoes, the Prima has an 8mm drop (the other Supernova running shoes have a 10mm drop). The high Dreamstrike+ foam makes the Supernova Prima comfortable, soft, but also fast when you need it. The Prima is more for long runs than fast ones, but that doesn’t mean you can’t run a fast mile or two in it. The midfoot geometry favors good stability, and the harder EVA layer underneath makes the shoe definitely more stable. The lower EVA, which forms the rods and follows the shape of the toes, is Adidas’ Support Rods system solution for improved stability. Although there is a stable running shoe member of the Supernova range, the Supernova Solution, the Prime also has good stability for a midfoot that is 38mm high. The Prima midsole is basically optimized for long and/or comfortable runs, but it has become very versatile, which is not expected from a shoe like this.

Adidas Supernova Prima outsole

Adidas Supernova Prima running shoe outsole The construction of the Adidas Supernova Prima Running Shoe Outsole is unconventional. The outsole is made of a newly developed rubber called Lighttraxion that does not cover the entire midsole. The front of the outsole is completely covered with Lighttraxion rubber, but it does not extend all the way to the heel. At the heel, the bottom layer of EVA acts as the outsole. With this solution, the heel can wear out faster, depending on where you’re striking, but also on your weight and running movements. The EVA used for the outsole has good grip on dry surfaces, but loses a lot of grip on wet surfaces. The Lighttraxion rubber layer is thin but has good grip.
