Description
The Nike Air Zoom Structure 25 Running Shoe is a highly stable running shoe designed for lightweight running. When Nike came out with the InfinityRN 4 running shoe, one of its goals was to provide an alternative for those who lacked the stability of the Pegasus and were looking for a similar but stable shoe. This seemed to put a halt to the development of the Structure, which has seen 24 versions, as it was previously Nike’s stable everyday running shoe for this line. The InfinityRN 4 is well made but only indirectly stable, it doesn’t feel strongly supported, which we think is a good thing, but there were certainly reviews that missed that. That’s probably why they took the Structure 25 line further, which is classically stable with a strong felt support on the inner arch.
The upper of the Nike Air Zoom Structure 25 running shoe is very comfortable. It features a heavily cushioned upper for good foot support. The heel collar is high and sufficiently stiff, but heavily cushioned to keep the foot well supported. The heel is also supported by a separate reinforcement. The tongue is extra cushioned and fixed on both sides. A wider version of the shoe is also available, so that the shoe is comfortable for people with wider feet
The Nike Air Zoom Structure 25 running shoe midsole is entirely made of the new Cushlon 3.0 foam, which is not much different from previous versions. This foam is a rather stiffer, less sensitive foam that doesn’t return too much energy, more suited for slower runs. Aside from the not very dynamic foam, the Structure 25 is a heavy shoe (although slightly lighter than the previous version), which makes it more of a slower runner. Most running shoe brands are trying to make their new stable running shoes less noticeable by widening the midfoot geometry. Unlike that, the Nike Air Zoom Structure 25’s outsole construction is classically violin-shaped, but the inner arch has been given a reinforced high support. This support can be felt strongly, but it’s also true that it can provide enough support. The Air Zoom insert is located in the forefoot of the midsole and is strongly felt, but gives the shoe some extra flexibility. Because the Structure 25 is a heavy shoe (although slightly lighter than the previous version), it’s hard to run fast in it
The outsole of the Nike Air Zoom Structure 25 running shoe is very grippy. The outsole covers a large area of the midsole and is well articulated, so it doesn’t make the midsole too stiff. The pattern also helps a lot with good traction, which is perfect even on wet ground.
Over all, the Nike Air Zoom Structure 25 running shoe is a highly stable running shoe with a comfortable upper, more suited for slower runs, and a good value for money. It will be a good choice for those looking for a stable running shoe for easy runs no longer than a half marathon.
Manufacturer description
Support: High
The more support the shoe provides, the more stability it can give your natural stride. The combination of tuned support and intentionally placed cushioning helps you feel secure with every step. Structure 25 is all about providing stability with every step. An upgraded foam midsole works with a wider midsole and increased rocker action to provide a more stable platform underfoot and a smoother transition from heel to toe.
Sole: High
The higher the cushioning under your feet, the softer and more comfortable your running experience can be. Cushioning helps cushion the impact when your foot hits the ground. New and improved foam in the midsole provides a soft and comfortable feel as you log your miles. High foam layers help maintain comfort. The rocker-like foam provides support for 3 phases of the runner’s stride. It provides flexibility when your foot lifts off the ground, a smooth ride when your foot moves forward, and cushioning when your foot touches the ground.
Reactivity: minimal.
The more responsive the shoe, the more energy you can get back with each step. Whether you want to run a little faster or with a little less effort, responsive shoes help you add a little more spring to your step to get more out of your run. The Zoom Air unit in the forefoot provides responsive cushioning. Each stride helps to return energy to propel you forward with a springy, responsive feel.
Aligned fit
The adaptive forefoot provides plenty of room to spread your toes. The wider forefoot complements the wider base and smooth ride. Added structure and gripping around the heel provides a more supportive fit.
What’s new in the Structure 25?
We’ve added even more foam than our previous Structure, providing even better support and comfort than its predecessor. New and improved foam under the sole helps provide support.
Additional benefits
We’ve softened the materials on the inside of the heel, collar and tongue, so every part of the shoe that comes in contact with your ankle feels smooth and comfortable.
The single layer mesh provides breathability and durability.
The durable rubber outsole has grooves in the forefoot for flexibility, and vertical grooves on the sides for stability.
