Puma MagMax Nitro running shoes

Description

The Puma MagMax Nitro Running Shoe is a highly cushioned, neutral, daily running shoe with high cushioning that makes it ideal for long and recovery runs. If you run shorter distances and are looking for a durable, comfortable running shoe, the MagMax Nitro may also be a good choice. Surprisingly, despite the high midsole, the Puma MagMax Nitro midsole doesn’t give you extra softness, it’s stiff for its thickness, which is a good thing because it gives you both better shock absorption and better dynamics. The upper is all about comfort, every element of the upper is designed with comfort and durability in mind, the PumaGrip outsole is very durable and thick, its pattern and softness makes it grip very well even on wet surfaces.

Puma MagMax Nitro upper

Puma MagMax Nitro Running Shoe UpperThe upper of the Puma MagMax Nitro Running Shoe is made of a stretchy than average mesh material that has slightly better than average breathability. The upper fits true to size and is comfortable for runners with wider feet (if you have wide feet, you may want to buy a half size larger), but it also holds thinner feet securely. The gusseted tongue is stretchy, medium cushioning, very comfortable to lock the foot. The heel collar is moderately stiff, heavily padded, providing maximum comfort and secure foot lock. The thin upper part of the heel can be folded up, which, together with the pull strap on the tongue, makes it easier to put the shoe on. For better foot lock, Puma also uses PWRTAPE layers on the MagMay Nitro upper that runs along the inner side pf the upper.

Puma MagMax Nitro midsole

Puma MagMax Nitro running shoe midsoleThe Puma MagMax Nitro running shoe midsole is made of NitroFoam, a nitrogen-injected supercritical foam (nitrogen is injected into the EVA foam in a high-pressure environment when it is in a supercritical state). The midsole of the MagMax is very high, 46mm at the heel and 38mm at the forefoot. The midfoot is not too soft, it feels quite firm, so it doesn’t provide comfort by allowing your foot to sink in. The weight of the shoe means it’s not for fast runs, but the energy return of the NitroFoam isn’t bad, which is more useful for slower but longer runs. Because the midfoot is not too soft despite the height, the shoe has very good shock absorption. Despite the height, the midfoot is not unstable and the stability of the shoe is good. The good stability is due to the fact that the midsole is not only high, but also wider than average, and the NitroFoam is not too soft, so it doesn’t tilt sideways as easily.

Puma MagMax Nitro Outsole

Puma MagMax Nitro Running Shoe OutsoleThe Puma MagMax Nitro running shoe outsole is made with a PUMAGRIP rubber compound that provides great traction and abrasion resistance. The outsole is thicker than average and features a deep tread pattern for durability and traction. The outsole does not cover the whole midsole, which improves the flexibility of the shoe (the high midsole makes the shoe inflexible), but it does cover the outsole in places where traction is needed or where the shoe is exposed to more wear. As with the other saily Puma running shoes, the outsole of the Puma MagMax Nitro running shoe grips very well, even on wet, dusty surfaces.
