Description
The Puma Liberate Nitro 2 running shoe is a very lightweight, fast dynamic, responsive running shoe with lower than average shock absorption, best suited for faster training or races up to half marathon distance (up to marathon distance for more advanced runners). It’s hard to find a better value for money shoe for fast training and breaking speed records than the Puma Liberate Nitro 2.
The upper of the Puma Liberate Nitro 2 running shoe is a very thin, seamless mesh material. It is flexible and perfectly wraps around the foot, which is a very important criterion for a fast shoe because it gives a secure feel and does not make the foot slip during fast runs. The thin mesh material is breathable and therefore wicks moisture quickly, but also dries quickly. This mesh material is stiffened by Puma’s PWRTAPE technology, part of which is clearly visible in a zigzag pattern inside the mesh material, and the idea is that it counteracts the forces on the foot, so it helps to provide even better foot support. The tongue is very thin, locks well but is a little too long, which can rub the ankle. The heel is less cushioned, stiff and holds the ankle well
The Puma Liberate Nitro 2 running shoe midsole is a very simple midsole, made from a single material, which is Puma’s nitrogen-injected EVA foam called Puma Nitro Foam. Nitrogen-injected foam is lighter, more flexible, more responsive than a regular EVA foam. The Liberate Nitro 2 midsole is low, only 28mm at the heel, which doesn’t give much shock absorption, but in return it is responsive and dynamic enough with plenty of ground feel.
The outsole of the Puma Liberate Nitro 2 running shoe is made from the PumaGrip rubber that Puma is already known for. For a minimalist, lightweight shoe, it has a large outsole overlay, which is needed at higher speeds to keep the shoe stable. The midsole has no outsole covering so the shoe doesn’t become stiff. The PumaGrip rubber not only grips well, but also has good abrasion resistance.
