Nike has made a big splash with the Pegasus. Everyone was expecting the 40th version to be a big step up and an all-new shoe, the Nike Air Pegasus 40. It didn’t turn out that way, but here’s the Nike Air Pegasus 41, which came earlier than expected and is almost an all-new running shoe.
On April 11, 2024, Nike unveiled several new shoes at the Paris “On Air” event, including the Nike Air Pegasus 41 and the Nike Air Pegasus Premium.
The pictures speak for themselves, but it’s worth delving into the details.
Nike Air Pegasus 41
The biggest new feature is that instead of the React foam used previously, the Pegasus 41 midsole has been updated with ReactX foam, which is softer and has better cushioning (the same update was given to the Nike InfinityRN 4, which will be refreshed in 2023). There will still be two Air Zoom units in the sole of the shoe one at the heel and one under the toe. The midsole is also apparently taller than its predecessor, so it’s expected to provide higher cushioning and perhaps more dynamism.
The upper of the Nike Air Pegasus 41 running shoe is made from a mesh material that is lighter, more comfortable and has better breathability than previous versions. Thanks to Dynamic Midfoot Fit technology, which connects the laces directly to an insole, it keeps the foot better and more secure.
The Nike Pegasus Trail 5, Nike Trail Pegasus Trail Gore-Tex® and Nike Pegasus Winter Gore-Tex® running shoes will also be released with the Nike Air Pegasus 41 running shoe.
The Nike Air Pegasus 41 running shoe is expected to be available in stores from June 2024.
Nike Pegasus Premium
The Nike Pegasus Premium running shoe, or sneaker, won’t be released until later, in spring 2025, but it was introduced along with the Pegasus 41.

In the Pegasus Premium, the focus will be on the visual, as the Air Zoom unit will be fully visible. The upper will be thicker and more comfortable than the Pegasus 4. The midsole will consist of two foams with ReactX foam on the heel portion of the Nike Pegasus Premium, and the front of the midsole will be petig ZoomX foam, which is more dynamic than ReactX foam. It will not only be more comfortable, but also more dynamic than the Pegasus 41.
We look forward to trying both shoes and writing a detailed review for you.
