The Adidas Adizero Takumi Sen 9 running shoes are lightweight, fast sneakers designed for short, 5-10 kilometer speed runs. Despite its low weight of 187 grams, it has a relatively thick midsole, and also includes fiberglass energy rods in the midsole. The Takumi Sen 9 features a harder sole with sensitive, responsive high ground feel, and good energy return. The most significant change from the previous version is in the upper, which has made the shoe lighter by 6 grams (3%).
The upper part of the Adidas Adizero Takumi Sen 9 running shoe is made of a very thin, transparent mesh material, reinforced with stiffening layers on the toe area, the sides and back of the heel, and on the lateral side. Thus, the upper is very light, and has excellent breathability. The tongue of the shoe is also made from a very thin mesh material, not padded, only having a neoprene strip on the top to prevent chafing the shin, but it may rub the foot on the sides. Overall, since the midsole structure of the shoe leans more towards the harder, more dynamic side, it is not as comfortable for longer distances, but very good for maintaining a fast pace up to 10-15 km. Despite the shoe not having a high midsole and being rather hard, it does not provide as much stability. There are no lateral support elements, which would be useful when the foot gets tired. The stability is somewhat compensated by the strong foot grip of the upper, but the lack of greater stability further indicates that the Takumi Sen 9 is not the best choice for longer distances.
The outer sole of the Adidas Adizero Takumi Sen 9 running shoe mostly covers the midsole, but it’s worth examining the outsole from two sides.
