Saucony Ride 16 running shoes
8.5/10 (Expert Score)All in all, the Saucony Ride 16 Running Shoe is a versatile running shoe that is a great choice for everyday, mileage-gathering runs. It is adequately soft but not too soft, comfortable, and has a very durable outsole. There is also a wider version (Saucony Ride 16 Wide), so if you have a wider foot, you might want to go for this one. Since it hasn’t changed much from the previous version, as long as you can get the older version it’s worth checking it out as it’s probably cheaper than the newer version.
Description
The Saucony Ride 16 Running Shoe is a versatile everyday running shoe that is soft, comfortable, lightweight, and grips well, making it a great choice if you’re looking for a shoe that can be worn for most types of running. It’s a great running companion for beginner and intermediate runners alike. The forefoot is a little wide, less supportive, but narrower at the heel, making it a little harder to put on. Compared to the previous version, the Saucony Ride 15, the shoe hasn’t changed much, so you won’t lose much if you buy the cheaper previous version.
The upper of the Saucony Ride 16 running shoe is made from a very breathable mesh material. The tongue is fixed and padded, which increases comfort in the shoe. The heel and midsole keep the foot firmly in place, but widen at the toes so that those with narrow feet can pull them on with ease, but the front of the foot will slip a little. The heel collar is not too high and is also well padded, holding the heel well. The upper wears a little faster than average, but if used as intended it will not wear out quickly. Because of the fast wear, it is a good idea to secure the foot well so that neither the heel nor the toe part of the foot rubs against the material.
The Saucony Ride 16 running shoe midfoot hasn’t changed much from the previous version. It’s made from the same foam called PWRRUN, which is soft and absorbs shock well, but also firm so the foot doesn’t sink into it, with a good balance between softness and dynamism. The midsole height is also the same as the previous version, 27mm thick at the front and 35mm thick at the back, with an 8mm drop. While not the best shoe for fast runs, the shoe is dynamic and light enough to run 1 or 2 faster runs in the shoe. As the shoe widens at the front, midfoot stability is also great.
The outsole of the Saucony Ride 16 running shoe hasn’t changed much from the previous version. The pattern is the same, it doesn’t cover the entire midfoot, which saves weight, but it still grips extremely well even on wet surfaces. The XT-900 compound not only gives good grip, but is also very durable.
All in all, the Saucony Ride 16 Running Shoe is a versatile running shoe that is a great choice for everyday, mileage-gathering runs. It is adequately soft but not too soft, comfortable, and has a very durable outsole. There is also a wider version (Saucony Ride 16 Wide), so if you have a wider foot, you might want to go for this one.
